ZF is one of the industry's largest automotive suppliers and HELLA is a leading tier 1 supplier of camera perception software and sensor technologies. Together they will provide a complete self-driving system integrating front camera units, as well as supporting software functions and radar systems.

Nvidia’s technology, such as the Nvidia Drive™ PX AI platform, will be used to produce high safety ratings for passenger cars, as well as commercial vehicles and off-highway applications. This is in accordance with the NCAP standards, introduced in the 1970s to govern consumer vehicles.

The Nvidia Drive™ PX will allow ZF and Hella to develop software for scalable systems such as diver assistance systems that connect their imaging and radar sensor technologies for autonomous driving functionality.

"Creating a self-driving car is one of society's most important endeavors -- and one of the most challenging to deliver," said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO, Nvidia. "Our work with ZF and Hella will bring AI self-driving solutions that include NCAP safety for millions of cars worldwide.”

Safety has clearly been made of paramount importance to these companies, as autonomous driving technology begins to undertake global trials, seeking to prove that it can operate in a safe and secure manner for easier integration into public roads.
