LAANC Launches Across the US
The Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) is set to fully launch the long-awaited system to expedite authorisations for operating drones. It released the first prototype of the Low Altitude Authorisation and Notification Capability (LAANC) system in October and will now release the beta version across the US. According to the FAA’s release: “LAANC is an industry developed application with the goal of providing drone operators near real time processing of airspace notifications and automatic approval of requests that are below approved altitudes in controlled airspace.”
