Can you give a short potted history of UAVs in Canada? Some details of the regulator and timeline of regulation from Transport Canada would be useful.

The drone industry has been evolving over time. Today, with the growth of autonomous vehicle technology, the drone industry has been accelerating. Transport Canada has been working to regulate this exploding industry and they have commenced announcing a framework for safe drone operations within Canada.

How did DDC come together as a company? What led to the establishment of the company, what are the drivers for growth in Canada?

Drone Delivery Canada was established in late 2013 with a focus on pioneering drone delivery technology for the Canadian geography. We have partnered with leading academics and government agencies to bring this technology platform to Canadians. The goal is to start in Canada's North and focus on remote communities.

Does Canada's geography lend itself more readily to drone delivery? What other countries would fit the pattern?

We are working closely with all stakeholders including key regulators. Our focus is to deploy this technology within the Canadian landscape. Our solution is developed utilizing Canadian academics, Canadian technology – to service the Canadian people.

What is meant by the "Depot to Depot" logistics strategy?

Depot to depot is a business to business platform. Point A to Point B on pre-defined flight paths.

What are your assumptions about the current and future size of the drone delivery market?

This is a new industry and we see huge potential in the market.

What stage are you at in terms of business planning and investment? Turnover, acquisitions, organic growth etc.

We have been developing our platform and have commenced commercial flight testing with some of our clients. We received our first flight certificate to allow testing in October 2016.

What about the competition? Amazon, the big logistics businesses.

We are focused on a depot to depot model, rural remote Canada.

What type of business has the greatest potential for growth? Retail, Agricultural, Medical?

We are exploring all niche markets and working with our stakeholders to understand requirements and scalability.

What does the future hold for drone delivery in general?

We are at the forefront of a new industry. Sky is the limit.

Where will DDC be in 5 years' time?

We foresee a bright future for the company – as the technology further develops we see a highly profitable robust business model evolving.
